It is also a hub for research (supported by SSHRC) that supports new ideas in music pedagogy as well as cultural and community development.

Whether it is mapping the distribution of greenhouses in Essex County, modeling the impact of climate change on the Great Lakes, deploying autonomous gliders in Lake Erie, tagging sharks in the Arctic, assessing the impact of microplastics, or working with local farmers improve soil conservation and improve water quality, you have the potential to make important discoveries as an undergraduate student in our School of the Environment. Our comprehensive programs in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies will provide you with hands-on opportunities in the field and in the lab, through Internships, Service Learning, Study Abroad and Undergraduate Research.  You will also be able access unique courses and programs that provide industry-relevant knowledge and skills through our Geographic Information Science (GISc.) and Environmental Assessment (EA) certificates, plus an ability to work in world-class analytical and computational facilities via the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research, as well as participate in numerous field trips and field schools.

French Studies

Our program offers a comprehensive program of study comprising language training, linguistics, francophone literatures and cultures, and translation. A degree in French Studies introduces a wide variety of career choices: teaching, government, journalism, media, and business are mere examples. Mastery of a second language has become an invaluable arrow in the quiver of the modern university graduate; this is especially true in the workforce of bilingual Canada, a major G7 member. Students may study for a three-year General or a four-year Honours degree. We also offer a concurrent degree (BA/BEd) program in French Studies and Education, which includes practice teaching. Program structure, delivery, and all related opportunities (e.g. teaching assistantships, research assistantships (Outstanding Scholars), exchanges, awards and funding, experiential learning) will be discussed.

The Department of Physics is home to a dedicated team of faculty, students, researchers, and staff who have devoted themselves to learning, studying, teaching, and investigating the laws of physics and how they effect everything we do in the universe that we live in. Attendees will learn about both the Honours Physics and Honours Medical Physics programs. Attendees will be introduced to the Physics Club student organization, and tour the MRI laboratory, the biomedical physics laser laboratory, the attosecond science laser laboratory, the Baker Foundation Laboratory for Medical Physics Education, and hear theoretical physics students explain their projects. Skills acquired by these physics students will be discussed and how these skills lead to successful and rewarding jobs in a vast variety of careers will be explained.
