PROGRAM DETAILS

Program Length: 3 semesters (12 months)

Admission Requirements


Applicants who, at the time of registration, hold a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a Social Work program accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) or the Council on Social Work Education are eligible for the Advanced Standing option. This is a 1-year full-time option that starts in May.

Additionally, applicants must have:

  • Grade point average of 73% or above, calculated based on the last two years of their qualifying BSW Honours degree
  • Relevant work, volunteer, or practical experience
  • Excellent reference letters from one academic referee and one employer referee
  • A strong personal statement
  • Evidence of successful completion of one undergraduate course in statistics and one in research methods both of which must be related to social sciences

PROGRAM DETAILS

Program Length: 5 semesters (20 months)
Program Delivery: On-Campus

Admission requirements


Applicants who, at the time of registration, hold an honours degree in a related discipline from an accredited undergraduate program are eligible for the Regular Track option. This is a 20-month full-time option that starts in September. Additionally, applicants must have:

  • Grade point average of 73% or above, calculated based on the last two years of their qualifying Honours Degree
  • Relevant work, volunteer, or practical experience
  • Excellent reference letters from one academic referee and one employer referee
  • A strong personal statement
  • Evidence of successful completion of one undergraduate course in statistics and one in research methods both of which must be related to social sciences

Admission requirements


The MSW/JD is a dual degree program designed specifically for students who want to obtain both MSW and JD degrees. The program is structured to enable a student to obtain an MSW and a JD degree a full year sooner than if the student had chosen to pursue the degrees independently. Applicants who hold a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (BSW) can obtain an MSW and a JD in 3 years while applicants with an Honours degree in a related discipline can obtain the degree in 4 years. Additionally, applicants must have:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree (for Advanced Standing) or four-year Honours degree in a related discipline (for Regular Track)
  • Minimum grade point average of 73% based on the last two years of the qualifying degree
  • Relevant work, volunteer, or practical experience
  • Excellent reference letters from one academic referee and one employer referee
  • A strong personal statement
  • Completion of one undergraduate statistics course and one research methods course related to Social Sciences

JD Admission Requirements

  • University of Windsor Personal Profile
  • All Official Transcripts
  • Current official LSAT score report; LSAT scores written in the previous six years
  • Two (2) letter of reference (one academic and one non-academic) on the forms specifically provided for this purpose (available on the OLSAS website)

Applicants who, at the time of registration, have at least three years of social service work experience and hold a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a Social Work program accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education or the Council on Social Work Education are eligible for the Advanced Standing option. This is a 16-month weekend only option that starts in September and January. Additionally, applicants must have:

  • At least three years of social service work experience
  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree from a Social Work program accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work

Classes take place on weekends, perfect for working professionals who want to take the next step while continuing their full-time career.
