elite program is for you. It’s for students who want to develop knowledge
and skills in the sciences, arts, humanities and social sciences. Blend
your interests – drama with biomedical sciences or biochemistry with
music. You can tailor your program to match your interests and career
aspirations. Our students can pursue diverse career opportunities or go
on to do research or graduate degrees in their field. This program is small
by design to give your talents the attention they deserve.

Specialization Options: Students choose a major or double major and a minor (in FAHSS or Science). Available major and minor concentrations: Anthrozoology; Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry; Communication, Media and Film; Computer Science; Dramatic Art; Economics; English Language, Literature and Creative Writing; History; Languages, Literatures and Civilizations; Mathematics and Statistics; Music and Visual Arts; Philosophy; Physics; Political Science; Psychology; Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology; Women’s and Gender Studies
Career Tracks: Professional school (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy), law, graduate studies, medical director
Choose a major concentration in either the Sciences or Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, then choose a minor in the one of the disciplines in the other faculty. This option allows for the greatest flexibility as student have up to 7 additional courses they can take in any field of study.
For students wanting in-depth study in two fields, this option allows you to take a major concentration in a Science discipline and a major concentration from the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences faculty.
Choose a major concentration in either the Sciences or Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, then choose two minors in the any of the disciplines in the other faculty.
Course Requirements: Advanced Functions/MHF4U and two of Biology/SBI4U, Physics/SPH4U, or Chemistry/SCH4U
Strongly Recommended: Calculus & Vectors/MCV4U
Minimum Average: 80%
Mean Average (Entering Fall 2019): 85%

"I was a member of the inaugural class of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (BAS) program, graduating in 2007 with a major in biochemistry and a minor in history. My four years in BAS were extremely rewarding. I appreciated the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects alongside a small group of bright, motivated, and friendly colleagues. I was initially drawn to the prospect of keeping my options open for the future and ultimately discovered that BAS opened more doors than I previously thought possible.
In 2010, I earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in history from the University of Windsor. Subsequently, I attended medical school at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine. After receiving my doctor of medicine (MD) degree in 2014, I completed my family practice residency in 2016. Since then, I have been working in Windsor as a family physician. I also participate in small group teaching at the Windsor campus of Schulich, where I hold an adjunct faculty position.
The lessons I learned in BAS have served me well since graduation. With its commitment to developing analytical reasoning and communication skills in a diverse array of disciplines, the program prepared me to approach complex issues in the classroom and clinic from a variety of perspectives.”
